Breed Education Seminars.

One of the Club’s highest priorities is breed education. Solid knowledge of the breed is paramount to ensure its welfare, soundness and sustainability over time. We believe breeders and canine judges must possess a thorough knowledge of the characteristics that a Picard should exhibit. We also believe that every owner of a Berger Picard must have a good understanding of the breed because these owners are the valued ambassadors of our rare breed, regardless of whether their Picard is a performance dog, a show dog or a beloved pet.

Keeping this in mind, we are very pleased to offer two separate breed seminars to interested parties.

The Judges and Breeders Seminar is designed with a focus on the important tasks faced by breeders and judges.  This seminar provides a brief overview of the breed history while the core of the seminar is focused on the CKC breed standard. The information presented will provide judges with valuable cues regarding what to look for in the conformation ring. It is also intended to assist breeders in directing their breeding programs towards achieving the desired traits of the breed.

The Berger Picard Enthusiast Seminar will provide a good sense of what to expect in a Picard. It is directed towards anyone interested in knowing more about this amazing breed. The seminar covers the different growing phases from both a physical and behavioural point a view. It covers health, grooming and training particularities. And it introduces all the little quirks and oddities that make this breed so endearing.

While our seminars are primarily available in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, presentation can be arranged in other provinces. Presentations can be coordinated through our judge association or your local all-breed dog club or any other organization capable of providing a room of good size and at least ten participants.

Our presenters are accompanied by some great Berger Picards. Each seminar will be followed by a Meet-the-Breed session to give you the opportunity to have close, hands-on encounters with these wonderful dogs.
